Workplace equalityI was inspired to create this cartoon when I read a Forbes article written on the 2016 Grant Thornton UK LLP London study into senior roles held by women in the workforce. The study reported that almost four in ten businesses in G7 countries have no women in senior management positions and those companies that do have women in senior roles, average out to 22 percent.

We have a long way still to go.

Hmmm… same difference. It would be awhile before we will have a female Prime MInister in Canada or President in USofA. Surprisingly, at work, mostly females are on the upper management except and advocates.

We have had our first female prime minister here in Australia, but she ended up getting booted out before her term.

Interesting to hear you have many females in senior management. I think the industry in which you work has role to play in that as well. What is the industry?

  • I also work at a place that is an exception to the rule. (I report to a woman who reports to a woman who until a couple years ago reported to a female CEO.) Nonetheless, there is a lot of work that needs to be done if there is to be more equality at all workplaces. In the past, I have worked at small companies that didn’t have any women in senior roles.

My current manager’s boss is female and my manager prior was female. It was the first time I’d worked for a female and I went in thinking it would be the same…but it wasn’t, it was better. Having said that, individual personalities play a big part too, not just gender.
