What better way to fight temptation, than with the humble tea towel
This is the next drawing in my Art of Series where I reinterpret famous pieces of art through a cartoon filter and splash them into everyday life by incorporating popular products into the drawing. Then I place the image onto the product for a bit of fun and inspiration. Drying the dishes has got to be more enjoyable with a cartoon on it, doesn’t it?
This particular cartoon is a snippet from Dali’s Temptation of St Anthony. Check out my Art of Dali webpage to not only find our more about this piece of art, but also see what other everyday products I managed to sneak into the painting.
It’s a bit like the selfie stick for mobile phones
So, what delightful presents have you given or received?
Not quite the potion of the witches from Macbeth, but surely just as evil?
As a child I was rather surprisingly taken by the famous witches poem from Macbeth; so much so that I learnt it off by heart at the age of ten. I guess I liked the idea of witches, gruesome ingredients and evil potions. If I could make a potion, I think it would be a truth serum. Yes, not that imaginative, but for some spark, I’d infiltrate the office air conditioning system and watch the fun begin. Evil, aren’t I?
If you could whip up a potion (good or bad), what would it be?
A bit of a flashback to a cartoon I drew a couple of years back, but this time I have redrawn it in the app I now use for all my cartoons. Since I’ve been accepted into Cartoonstock, I’ve been inspired to redraw some of my favourite cartoons which can’t be included in Cartoonstock’s portfolio because they don’t have the required resolution.
Are there any other cartoons from the past you think I should redraw? Or perhaps, any themes or subject matter you think would work well for sales.
Let me know
Cartoonstock.com is probably the largest online licenser of cartoons
Their self professed claim to fame is “Welcome to the universe’s largest cartoon database”
It’s been a goal of mine to make it to their listing of 1,000 cartoonists worldwide and after two attempts over 4 years, I was finally accepted to join the party. I would greatly appreciate it if you visit my listed cartoons by clicking here. If you get seduced to viewing all the other fantastic cartoons on offer and want to find me again, simply go to the search page and sort by cartoonist. Lucky me – I’m third bottom of the list under Zeitler, Martina.
Spread the news!
Every now and then I dare to check Google to see if my cartoon is already out there. It’s a cartoonist’s worst nightmare (or close to) to publish a cartoon that someone else has already done – similar in notion to inadvertant copying. If you find out afterwards, it’s a bit like going through the seven stages of grief, starting with disbelief and shock (I mean, how could someone else possibly come up with my great, unique idea before I even had a chance to put pen to paper?). Luckily, this time I was relieved to find nothing similar. I found an article titled ‘Fifty shades of blue’, where my heart momentarily skipped a beat. However, it was short lived – It was a blue hair colour dye trend article.
Ever had your great idea trumped by someone else?
PS. If you find a cartoon along a similar vein, feel free to not contacting me with the information 🙂
