Luckily the last cartoon for 2012 coincided with my annual holidays, giving me a chance to undergo repairs. But don’t worry, we’ll be back with fresh material mid January 2013.
And if you want to share a journey down memory lane of the year that was 2012, click the following for my top 3 favourite cartoons.
I introduced these two evil characters – Grumble and Grudge (with middle names of Hank and Chester) – because all good cartoons needs a touch of wickedness. If you want to see their mischief, click here for the story so far.
Nothing better than a bit of toilet humour, so Doug holds a special place in my heart and had to make the top 3 for 2012. If you want to see more of Doug and his family of dung beetles, click here.
I don’t really know why I like this one, but it’s my favourite for the year. Maybe it’s the memories of my kids nagging from the back seat of the car. Maybe it’s the look of annoyance on rhino’s face.
Perhaps I should re-title this post as
‘How to not win the 39th annual Piracicaba International Humour cartoon competition’
Ahh, not that I’m upset. My ego is stronger than that! (just)
Boldly I decided to enter the competition (heck, it’s free and open up to the world. I had nothing to lose). There are 5 categories, of which I entered the first category
Not only that, I could enter 3 cartoons, so I did (stay tuned, they’ll be coming out shortly). I even got a friend of mine to translate (below) the caption into Portuguese (that cost me a chocolate frog too). Don’t the Brazilians love their beef? Surely, I was on a winner?
But alas no, it was not to be. But if you are interested in seeing what the winners came up with, here are the winning cartoons from the Piracicaba International humour exhibition.
I have Oddsock from Flickr to thanks for this crop circle photograph, as I would have struggled to get a photo like this by myself.
Whilst playing farm yard animals with my daughter a few weeks back, she asked me if I wanted a glass of milk. Naturally keen to demonstrate a positive attitude towards all things wholesome and healthy I replied ‘yes please!’ She proceeded to squeeze the soft toy’s tummy over an empty cup. I decided to take it one step further in this cartoon and add the shake.
