Cool. I like doing things digital and all, but real paper is still a must for some things.

Thanks. I must admit I like the feel of paper and how you interact with a book, but I am also a big fan of digital. The colours pop out of the screen. They can be interactive too.

Yeah, it is kind of hard to beat some of the interactive stuff you can do with a digital book. I still like having hardcopies of things I really love. Like I proudly have hardback Far Side and Calvin & Hobbes and Bloom County… also hardcover editions of the early MAD comics… I have the MAD comics in digital form too, so I can save wear on my physical ones… but I really like also having the physical ones for old-school enjoyment.

My favourite cartoon books are paper too – probably b/c they were printed before pixels came along. I have a great book by Chuck Jones on the making of Warner Brothers cartoons – it has a little flip animation on each page that it rather cute – can’t do that on digital (well, not in the same kind of way)

I love flip-book animation. When I was a kid my father did some of that on some index cards. I don’t know what ever happened to those. I’m sure they were lost in moves a long time ago, but it brings back memories since I remember when he first drew them… but the memory of what they actually were escapes me now.

Before computers, it was the way to do your own homemade animation… and it was pretty cool!
