Sound familiar…Or should that be look familiar?
This cartoon was inspired by the online conference calls I make as part of day to day work in the office these days. However, it was when I reflected on the now 14 million+ YouTube views video A conference call in real life, that I thought to myself, how would I convert the idea into 2D cartoon form.
Do you make online conference calls at work?
What funny things happen to you in those calls? Who knows, I might turn it into a cartoon.
Fantastic cartoon Marti – love how you’ve visualised this. I don’t have to do conference calls but it made me think of the fine balancing act that is live radio when there are multiple people on mic. They say the worst thing possible on radio is dead air. But equally bad is people talking over the top of one another. Reading body language and being tuned into natural breaks in peoples’ speech is such a fascinating skill!
Well, just quietly, I’ve listened to your podcasts, and I must say you handle yourself with natural confidence. I think you’ve mastered that skill!
Thank you Marti!
I find conference calls kind of funny — I’m never quite sure who is on the other line(s). And, I agree with Jen Martin, this cartoon is wonderfully visualized.
I must admit, the old conference call has come a long way technology wise. More reliable than before. We seem to live and breathe them at work, constantly talking to our colleagues in overseas locations. I don’t mind them when I’m a participant, but running one can be quite stressful, when technology lets you down and you’re left scrambling in the blind so to speak.
