Lights! Camera!

Lights! Camera! Selfie!

It never ceases to amaze me what wonders technology can bring into our everyday lives to make life easier, yet at the same time, perhaps more absurd than ever before.

Let’s consider the snapping of the ever humble selfie. I mean, I thought it was simply a matter of extending one’s arm out so that you take on the appearance of a Romanesque sculpture and then trying to look normal whilst getting your thumb to click the ever elusive button to take the shot. But technology and our love of all things gadgety has enabled businesses to boom in a society that loves sharing images of themselves. Check out MacWorld’s 7 selfie enhancing products. Personally, I think you can’t go past the Joby GripTight GorillaPod Magnetic XL.  I think using it might be simpler than calling it by name.

So, what’s your selfie tool of choice?

Fear not, no judgement here. You’re in the safety of the world wide web.

Here boy, fetch

By Dogs

Dog and stickSticks, selfie sticks, frisbees – What do they all have in common?

Dogs like to fetch them! So it got me thinking, about record stick fetching achievements and sure enough, the Guinness World Record group has come to my calling. Introducing Davy Whippet (and Rob McLeod) who broke the Guinness World Record for the longest flying disc throw caught by a dog with a catch at 134 yards (402 feet). Surprisingly the pair are not dog and owner. The owner, Lara Sorensen, noticed her pup had a talent for catching, so she introduced Davy to champion frisbee thrower Rob McLeod…and the rest is now captured in Guinness book history.

Do you own an amazing pet?

Where it all started

By That's life

Selfie stick caveman styleAh, the selfie stick. Will it define our generation in years to come?

Not all are on board with the selfie stick. London music venue halls in Wembley are banning the selfie stick as it is considered a safety hazard to others surrounding the stick user, especially in crowded halls. Disruption to people’s view of the performances was another reason cited for the banning of the stick.

So what do you think?

Do you own one (but are too shy to admit it – fear not – you can come out here in a safe environment called the internet) or

Do you own one and brandish it everywhere you go with great pride and gusto?

PS. If you leave a comment below, I might just quietly share with you whether or not I own one.
